What is Mentor Collective?
Mentor Collective is a mentoring program designed to support students at different stages of their academic and professional journey. Through meaningful connections, students receive guidance, build confidence, and develop skills for success.
What are the different phases of the program?
Phase 1: FYE Peer Mentoring
- Incoming first-year students are matched with experienced upperclassmen mentors who help them transition to college life, navigating campus resources, and build a strong foundation.
Phase 2: Gear Up Career Mentoring
- Upperclassmen students are paired with alumni or industry professionals who provide career insight, advice, and networking opportunities.
Phase 3: KVS Peer Mentoring
- Incoming KVS students are matched with upperclassmen KVS mentors who offer support, guidance, and connection within the KVS community.
How are mentors and mentees matched?
Matches are made based on shared interests, academic programs, career goals, and personal preferences to help create meaningful and relevant connections.
What is expected of participants?
Participants are expected to communicate regularly, be responsive, and actively engage in building their mentoring relationship. This may include virtual meetings, messaging, or occasional in-person interactions.
How often should I communicate with my mentor/mentee?
We recommend connection at least 2-4 times per month, especially during the beginning of the relationship. Consistent communication leads to a more valuable experience.
Does participating guarantee me a job or internship?
No. The Gear Up Career Mentoring program is not designed to secure jobs or internships. Instead, it focuses on:
- Building professional connections
- Expanding your network
- Learning about career paths and industries
- Gaining insight and advice from experienced professionals
What are the benefits of participating?

Is participation required?
